Pioneering Self-Advocacy for People With Learning Disabilities

Introduction
The Department for Transport recently undertook a review of Travel Training Schemes in England aimed at:
1. Examining which areas and social groups are using Travel Training Schemes
2. Evaluating the effectiveness of Travel Training Schemes
3. Identifying barriers to effectiveness and suggesting ways in which these may be overcome

For the purposes of this document we will focus predominantly on point 3.

This document will:
• Refer to identified ‘issues affecting the provision of Travel Training’ and suggest ways that Easy-Web-Page might assist in overcoming them
• Discuss your outlined ‘Keys to success’ and suggest ways that Easy-Web-Page might help you to achieve them
• By doing this, indicate a number of ways that an Easy-Web-Page project would help Department for Transport to convey the benefi ts of Travel Training to prospective users and ‘non-transport organisations’ in order to increase uptake and obtain support for the schemes
